Bury Lawn is an independent co-educational day school for children aged between 3 years and 18 years, accredited with the Independent Schools Association (ISA). We pride ourselves on our family atmosphere in which everybody is valued as an individual and is encouraged to reach their full potential within a disciplined yet caring atmosphere.
Academically the School is non-selective and it caters for a wide ability range. We have pupils who are gifted and talented and pupils with specific learning difficulties whose needs are assessed by and met by a very experienced Learning Support Department. Our examination results reflect our ability range, the hard work of our pupils, our teachers and our support staff. Whether our pupils gain A* grades or F grades at GCSE, A grades or E grades at A level we work with them every step of the way to help them achieve their academic goals.
Pupils take nationally standardised and recognised tests throughout their time at Bury Lawn and this enables us to track their progress in relation to their potential. We combine this tracking with careers related advice that starts in Year 9 and goes on all the way through to Year 13.
The school offers a wide range of academic, sporting and cultural opportunities. We encourage children to reach for the very highest standards they can achieve, not only academically, but also in areas such as leadership and communication. We believe that this equips pupils with the relevant skills to contribute to the local community and the wider world.
Bury Lawn was founded in 1970 and has occupied its present purpose-built site since 1987. Having become a GEMS managed school in September 2003, we are now in the enviable position of having their expert team at our disposal. In addition, our ethos has been further enhanced by the GEMS core values which provide a further framework to guide pupils towards being happy, successful and fulfilled.
This website offers just a taste of life at Bury Lawn, but we hope you enjoy browsing through it and that you will come to see for yourself what we can offer your child.
